A DEFIANT NATION
1st Amendment to the Constitution of the United States.
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
Genesis 1:1 "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth."
Deuteronomy 5:7 "You must not have any other gods besides me."
Psalms 47:8 "God reigns over the nations! God sits on his holy throne!"
Psalms 47:9 "… for God has authority over the rulers of the earth. ..."
Psalms 9:17 "… sent to Sheol; this is the destiny of all the nations that ignore God,"
Well there is a flaw in our thinking Because our God only allows for worship of him. "God reigns over the nations!" So to say we shall make no law that respects religion, is an act of rebellion. Jeremiah 11:10 "They have gone back to the evil ways of their ancestors of old who refused to obey what I told them. They, too, have paid allegiance to other gods and worshiped them. Both the nation of Israel and the nation of Judah have violated the covenant I made with their ancestors."
God Protects the Faithful Not With Weapons But By His Hand
Hosea 1:7 "But I will have pity on the nation of Judah. I will deliver them by the Lord their God; I will not deliver them by the warriors bow, by sword, by military victory, by chariot horses, or by chariots."
Recognition of Same Sex Marriage is Wrong By God's Law
Leviticus 20:13 "If a man has sexual intercourse with a male as one has sexual intercourse with a woman, the two of them have committed an abomination. They must be put to death; their blood guilt is on themselves."
Hebrews 13:4 "Marriage must be honored among all and the marriage bed kept undefiled, for God will judge sexually immoral people and adulterers."
Matthew 19:4 “Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’ 5 and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’?6 So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
Killing in Secret, Denying Justice to Foreigners is Wrong
Assassinations not in war - kill in secret,
Drones - kill in secret, deny justice,
Guantonomo Bay - denies foreigners justice
Leviticus 19:33 “‘When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. 34 The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the Lord your God."
Deuteronomy 27:15-26
15 “Cursed is anyone who makes an idol—a thing detestable to the Lord, the work of skilled hands—and sets it up in secret.”
16 “Cursed is anyone who dishonors their father or mother.”
17 “Cursed is anyone who moves their neighbor’s boundary stone.”
18 “Cursed is anyone who leads the blind astray on the road.”
19 “Cursed is anyone who withholds justice from the foreigner, the fatherless or the widow.”
20 “Cursed is anyone who sleeps with his father’s wife, for he dishonors his father’s bed.”
21 “Cursed is anyone who has sexual relations with any animal.”
22 “Cursed is anyone who sleeps with his sister, the daughter of his father or the daughter of his mother.”
23 “Cursed is anyone who sleeps with his mother-in-law.”
24 “Cursed is anyone who kills their neighbor secretly.”
25 “Cursed is anyone who accepts a bribe to kill an innocent person.”
26 “Cursed is anyone who does not uphold the words of this law by carrying them out.”
Deuteronomy 28:1-13 defines the blessings we will get by following God.
Deuteronomy 28:1 If you indeed obey the Lord your God and are careful to observe all his commandments I am giving you today, the Lord your God will elevate you above all the nations of the earth.
Deuteronomy 28:14-33 defines what happens if we do not follow God.
14 But you must not turn away from all the commandments I am giving you today, to either the right or left, nor pursue other gods and worship them.
15 But if you ignore the Lord your God and are not careful to keep all his commandments and statutes I am giving you today, then all these curses will come upon you in full force
16 You will be cursed in the city and cursed in the field.
17 Your basket and your mixing bowl will be cursed.
18 Your children will be cursed, as well as the produce of your soil, the calves of your herds, and the lambs of your flocks.
19 You will be cursed when you come in and cursed when you go out.
20 The Lord will send on you a curse, confusing you and opposing you in everything you undertake until you are destroyed and quickly perish because of the evil of your deeds, in that you have forsaken me.
21 The Lord will plague you with deadly diseases until he has completely removed you from the land you are about to possess.
22 He will afflict you with weakness, fever, inflammation, infection, sword, blight, and mildew; these will attack you until you perish.
23 The sky above your heads will be bronze and the earth beneath you iron.
24 The Lord will make the rain of your land powder and dust; it will come down on you from the sky until you are destroyed.
25 The Lord will allow you to be struck down before your enemies; you will attack them from one direction but flee from them in seven directions and will become an object of terror to all the kingdoms of the earth.
26 Your carcasses will be food for every bird of the sky and wild animal of the earth, and there will be no one to chase them off.
27 The Lord will afflict you with the boils of Egypt and with tumors, eczema, and scabies, all of which cannot be healed.
28 The Lord will also subject you to madness, blindness, and confusion of mind.
29 You will feel your way along at noon like the blind person does in darkness and you will not succeed in anything you do; you will be constantly oppressed and continually robbed, with no one to save you.
30 You will be engaged to a woman and another man will rape her. You will build a house but not live in it. You will plant a vineyard but not even begin to use it.
31 Your ox will be slaughtered before your very eyes but you will not eat of it. Your donkey will be stolen from you as you watch and will not be returned to you. Your flock of sheep will be given to your enemies and there will be no one to save you.
32 Your sons and daughters will be given to another people while you look on in vain all day, and you will be powerless to do anything about it.
33 As for the produce of your land and all your labor, a people you do not know will consume it, and you will be nothing but oppressed and crushed for the rest of your lives.
Based on this there is no way to support Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness without following God.
