The Breakdown of Order, We Need to Let Go

Our basic premise as a culture is competition.  We teach our children to compete through organized sports, even board games.  Think about how many times there was an argument over Monopoly or Risk.  Now consider the soccer mom culture.  We clearly teach our children it is important to win.   To win is to take the prize, to take victory, to take bragging rights, but not to give.  To love is to give, not take.  You could even state that to love is to lose because you would rather lose than take something from the other.

Our competitive nature drives us to win at all costs in some cases.  But the status quo, is to contend or compete from the start.  The picture to the left could even be considered the playbook for the Congress and the White House, basically ur policy is the opposite of theres.  Why is that?  Because We The People demand to be represented.  No problem,  except that to us representation means we want to have our way, or see a substantial fight.  We have become a people that want to be entertained by our news.  The news accommodates by adapting to ratings.  This creates a bias in our news.  What did you say!  Biased news means a biased reality. That is truly dangerous.  Ask any controls engineer, a system with a biased output (the media reporting of our governments actions)  and feedback with memory the human voter/poll/call to senator, becomes unstable.

Our system is also more sensitive than it was in 1776, because of instant feedback due to global instant delivery of news.  When Paul Revere made his ride there was a lot of time to consider their response as he rode his horse to inform the citizens, that the British were coming.  In a feedback control system the speed of the feedback affects the phase margin.  The faster the feedback the more unstable the system.

The third component of a feedback system that needs to be considered is the feedback gain.  The higher the gain the more likely the system will become unstable.  So in the Paul Revere example he rode by and stated the British were coming. Very little in the way of analysis.  But look at the 24/7 coverage of local crimes like that of George Zimmerman.  The difference is by considering so much the most contentious atypical cases.  It amplifies the out of the norm case that causes contention.  If you consider that there are roughly 100 deaths by gun per 1,000,000 people in the US each year, and approximately 1 NBC per million. So if a death is not a celebrity,  there is no point in nationwide coverage, it only serves to amplify hate.  This is a feedback gain of 200 to 300.  So nationwide broadcast of anything creates an illusion of the problem being 250 time worse.  That is 250x!!!

We do not see the nationwide broadcast of love based news, because humans are drawn the watching hate.  Not because we are evil but because we are not. Everyone is curious about things they do not know.  There becomes a point where we become entertained, then we are hooked on "infotainment."  Then you factor in that some people make a living off of division.  Personally this should be considered as a hate crime.  There needs to be a hate crime that involves creating division.  Additionally the bias of the media should be made a responsibility to accurately reflect reality.  We need to be lead not sold.

Love is the opposite of Hate, there are several components of that make up the love - hate spectrum.  God defined love in John 3:16.  A good way of thinking of it is to consider it as energy.  Positive energy is attributed to Love, and the negative counterparts are attributed to Hate.   So the attributes of Love/Hate are give/take, truth/secrecy lies, trust/fear, acceptance/rejection, humility/arrogance, freedom/control, generous/selfish, peace/violence, protect/neglect.  So to Love is to give, truth, trust, acceptance, humility, generous, peaceful, protective.  Pure Hate would be taking, secrecy or lies, fearful, rejecting, arrogant, controlling, selfish, violent, neglecting or ignoring.  Most reality lies somewhere in between.  But to get to Heaven we must be in Christ's love.  God perfects love in his children.  Not one is perfect, but we all should work to improve our behavior toward the positive side.

We need to let go. Not try and control. Just be.
